NEW SOLAS REGULATIONS W.E.F. 1ST JULY 2016

IMPORTANT NOTICE

NEW SOLAS REGULATIONS W.E.F. 1ST JULY 2016
(Applicable to LCL Cargo Booked on our Services)

The new regulation covering the SOLAS convention for the Safety of Life at Sea will come into force from July 1st 2016.

In accordance with the new regulations, the responsibility for obtaining and documenting the VGM of a packed container lies with the shipper shown on the master ocean B/L. As we are shown as the shipper on the master ocean B/L on groupage containers, we will now be responsible to provide a VGM (Verified Gross Mass) certificate to the ocean carrier in order to meet the SOLAS and port regulations.

We will be utilising the services of the port authorities to issue the necessary VGM under method 1 (Container Weighing) of the regulations and submitting this through our existing connections with the port community systems, CNS and Destin8.

As we will be having the containers weighed under method 1, we will not require an individual VGM certificate for your LCL shipments. We assume that the weight that you submit to us is correct and includes the packing of the cargo. It is vital that the weight submitted to us is accurate, if in the unlikely event that a container is found to be over its plated weight that container will have to be stopped and stripped and all cargo check weighed, if any shipper have been subsequently found to have mis declared the gross weight then all associated costs will be for that shippers account.

Please be advised that we will be charging a SOLAS/VGM administration fee of £4.00 per HB/L for all
LCL cargo booked with us on sailings on or after 1st July 2016.

Please feel free to contact us should you require any further information or clarification on the new SOLAS rules.
